March 2009 Guest Designer - Tanis Giesbrecht

I am a stay at home mom of 4 and wife of 18 years to my best friend.  We pretty much do everything together and love spending time with our families.  We live in a small town in Manitoba, Canada and LOVE it a lot.

I also teach piano lessons and have a small “made to order” craft business.  I love spending my creative time doing magazine submissions and drawing stamp designs.  I am also on the Design Teams at Caardvarks, Odd Bird Planet, Triple the Sketch (by Patter Cross) and Salt Faith Challenge.

What got you started in the stamping/papercrafting world?:
I got dragged to a Stampin'Up! Party in 2003 and bought a stamp set just to “be nice”.  My first creations are.....”interesting”, but I have loved the challenge of finding my personal style and growing as a designer.  I love transforming random bits of paper and embellishments to make something that is my own little piece of art.

Morning Person or Night Owl? Neither?  But I'm leaning toward the “night owl” side!

Favorite Sandwich: Reuben, hands down

When I go out with friends, we usually go to:  play hockey.

Favorite color(s): For crafting, I like browns with turquoises, oranges and greens.  I love fun and happy colours.

Favorite crafting tool: My Martha Stewart circle cutter.  I {heart} circles.

Favorite products (other than Pink Persimmon, of course!): Patterned paper addict here!!  I love any patterned papers that have tiny prints and funky colours and TEXTURE.  Texture is really important....Crate and October Afternoon are my top 2 favourites.  I also LOVE anything that can give my projects dimension...chipboard, felt, buttons, ribbon.

I am inspired by: my friend Lindsay, my favourite visual blog, printpattern.blogspot.com, and all the blogs I visit on a daily basis.

I can’t live without:  my Bible, my computer, my coffee and my pencil and paper.

My creative/scrap area right now looks:  YAY!!! I just cleaned my craft cupboard.  I am amazed how much stuff can fit into such a tiny space, but it does the trick for now.  I work at my dining room table, so everything needs to be cleaned up after each craft session (which is not a bad thing if it keeps me organized!).
