November 2008 Guest Designer - Laura Williams

Tell us about you and your family:
I am a photo-taking, cake-baking, paper-crafting mama of a three year old, and a wife to my darling husband.  We live in Jacksonville Florida, where my husband is the pastor of a small, sweet church.  When I’m not playing with paper, or playing with my three-year old, I am probably working on my blog!  You can find me at www.lauralooloo.blogspot.com.

Any other careers that you want to tell us about?:
In college I majored in art education, and although I never ended up teaching art, I did teach preschool, second and third grades before my son was born.  Now I am happy to stay at home with him! (And it gives me some extra time to CREATE!)

Tell us what got you started in the stamping/papercrafting world and why you love it so much:
I have been playing with paper since I was a little girl, and stamping since high school, when my mom became a Close To My Heart consultant.  As an adult, I have spent more and more time paper-crafting (and less and less time doing much of anything else!)  It’s like some sort of crazy addiction – making things just makes me HAPPY.  I love to work with bright colors, cheerful themes, and bold, clean patterns.

Morning Person or Night Owl?  Morning person . . .. but I WISH I could be a night owl!

Favorite Sandwich: Turkey and cheese on Itallian Herb bread at Subway

When I go out with friends, we usually go to:  my best friend’s house for Girls’ Night, to scrapbook, watch reality television, and eat chocolate!

Favorite color(s):  red, yellow, and black (but not all three together!)

Favorite crafting tool: INK

Favorite products (other than Pink Persimmon, of course!): October Afternoon paper, My Mind’s Eye paper, American Crafts Thickers, Stickles, Close To My Heart ink

I am inspired by: home furnishing catalogs (like West Elm, and Pottery Barn), other artists, the Hallmark Store

I can’t live without:  chocolate!!!

My creative/scrap area right now looks:  fairly neat and tucked away – but it’s all a hoax.  The drop-down desk and drawers can hold lots of mess where no one can see it!  As I work, my area gets messier and messier until I start to lose my scissors and glue – then I have to stop and clean up for a while!
